Polly Holladay was a contestant on Season 2 of Hell's Kitchen. She ranked in 12th place.
Polly was very insecure because she never went to culinary school. This insecurity feeling lead her to be lost during the first dinner service, not being able to make a proper risotto, and being the first contestant kicked off that season.
Season 2 Edit
Polly served an undone focaccia bread with garlic dipping oil as her signature dish. Ramsay first started by asking her what "undone" means, which she responded that it is not done. After taking a look at her focaccia bread, he made this statement : "Oh my god! Right now, I'd rather eat poodle shit than put that in my mouth!". After the challenge, she was placed in the red team as Ramsay decided that the teams, for the first time, would be divided by gender. All the men in the blue team, and all the women in the red team.
During prep, Polly declared that she had never been to culinary school. She then stated that she really has to pay a lot of attention to what her teammates and Sous Chef Mary-Ann are going to be saying to her.
During dinner service, Polly was on the appetizer station. Already, on the first few tickets, she was lost and needed help from Maribel and Sous Chef Maryann. The first risotto that she brought to the pass was stuck to the plate and the mushrooms were missing. Ramsay told her to put it in the bin and start over. An hour later, she received unwelcomed help from Sara. When Ramsay asked her how long on the risotto, she answered 6 minutes, but Sara tried to overshadow her by answering 2 minutes. After a moment of confusion, she finally pushed Sara off her station. When she served her second risotto and was asked to taste it, she declared it was bland, so Ramsay asked her to start over once more.
An hour and a half into dinner service, Polly was at her fourth attempt at the first risotto. Ramsay has had enough and made her switch stations with Heather. She then became the kitchen donkey until the end of the service, when Ramsay shut down both kitchens after customers started shouting "I want some food!" in the dining room. Her team lost the dinner service and Heather was named "Best of the Worst".
Polly was Heather's first nominee for elimination, with Virginia being the second. She was eliminated by Ramsay for being the worst performer of the night, and lacking the knowledge and experience.
Ramsay's comment: "This is a journey, and right now, we're going to hell and back, each and every week, to make sure we find the right person. And Polly? No chance!"
- She is the first ever contestant to have received the coat hanging and burning picture sequence.
- After her appearance on the show, she returned to her previous career as a caterer, and became a food blogger for a few years.
- "I've had 6 sons, I had them all naturally, and if I can endure that, Hell's Kitchen is gonna be nothing for me!"
