Season 16[]

Episode 1[]

Main article: Episode 1601 - When the Wall Comes Tumbling Down

On the bus ride to Hell's Kitchen, Andrew disagreed with Gia's plan to get rid of the men. While the chefs were expecting to arrive at the restaurant, the bus instead pulled up to an army base, which scared him as he could not do a push up to save his life. After leaving the bus, the chefs lined up in front of their own duffel bags, and as the Drill Sargent was barking out orders, a tank pulled up behind him, and Ramsay came out of it. Then, Ramsay explained that before the chefs could enter Hell’s Kitchen, he wanted to make sure that they all had the discipline to survive, noting that the army was the perfect example to prepare them. After, Ramsay said that if they could survive boot camp, then he will be convinced that they were worthy of competing. After changing into their uniforms, the chefs were put through an obstacle course and jogged over to Ramsay who was in front of a giant wall, which he called the toughest challenge. After the chefs claimed that they were ready, Ramsay was happy to hear it as the wall fell on him, revealing the front of the restaurant, and a large crowd waiting for them. Now that he saw the chef’s commitment and desire to compete, Ramsay announced that it was time for them to cook their signature dishes.

During the Signature Dish Challenge, Andrew was the eighth person from the blue team to have his dish judged by Ramsay and went up against Jessica. Before tasting his dish, he revealed that he trained at the Cordon Bleu, which Ramsay deemed an expensive school. He made a pan-roasted halibut with butter-poached leeks and shellfish broth, it was criticized for having terrible mushrooms, and he scored 2 points.

The blue team lost the challenge 25-28, and they were punished by resetting the dining room and setting up the tables for the following service, and packing up the risers the audience were sitting at. During the punishment, he complained that they lost the challenge, but Marino reminded him that they lost because Matt decided to make pigeon bolognas. After, Johnny and he joked about eating pigeon related meals. Later, he got annoyed when Pat decided to take a break as he was busting his ass, before declaring that the latter may not be hanging with the blue team any longer.

During dinner service, Andrew was on the garnish station. At one point, he and Matt argued over the scallops as he dumped them on the tray anyway, and when it turned out to be raw, Matt tried to pin the blame on him. After the blue team got kicked out of the kitchen, he accused his team of cooking like it was the first time in their lives. The blue team lost the service and were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, he considered Paulie and Pat for elimination.

He was not nominated for elimination.[1]

Episode 2[]

Main article: Episode 1602 - Crepe Grand Prix

While going back to the dorms, Andrew said that Pat was a dead weight that the blue team did not need, and believed that they needed passionate people, before saying that his teammates needed to step up and prove why they belonged there. Later that night, he was one of the few male chefs that did not strip naked.

During the Crepe Grand Prix Challenge, Andrew was paired up with Aaron, and while he was concerned that his partner did not have that much experience compared to himself, he decided to help him out. They were seen only getting one attempt accepted, but the blue team won the challenge 10-9. They were rewarded with a trip to Santa Barbara, dined aboard a 74-foot super mega yacht, and a chance to ride jet skis.

During dinner service, Andrew was on the fish station. At one point, he ignored Aaron’s request to help him but forgot to drop the scallops when Devin asked for a time, leading to the latter accusing him of bombing the blue team. When Ramsay demanded the order, Aaron revealed that they were waiting on his scallops, much to his annoyance, and Ramsay angrily accused him of sinking the restaurant. Despite that, he managed to get his scallops approved on time. After Genaro nonchalantly asked Ramsay if he wanted another steak, he got angry by that comment, and when the former's refire was raw again, he believed that the raw steak could have walked to the pass by itself. After the blue team got kicked out of the kitchen, he wanted to crawl into a ball and cry.

The blue team lost the service and were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, Andrew told Johnny not to take the Genaro incident too seriously and considered the latter and Aaron for elimination. However, Devin considered him for elimination due to him failing to drop the scallops on time, and having a deer in the headlights look. However, he argued that he was swamped on fish that night, believed that he was the strongest chef on the blue team, and declared that there was no chance in hell that he was going in front of Ramsay that night.

Andrew was not nominated for elimination, and while being dismissed, he felt that after two eliminations, the blue team was in a rut, before wondering how to get out of it quickly.[2]

Episode 3[]

Main article: Episode 1603 - The Yolks on Them

Back at the dorms, Andrew felt very low about losing two services in arrow, and later, told Jessica to shut the fuck up as he hated her, and even claimed that she gave aspirin a headache.

During the Ostrich Meat Challenge, Andrew was not seen during the first part. After Johnny lost the ground meat round, he was disappointed in the latter as it should have been in his alley due to his background with burgers. He was paired up with Paulie on the oysters, they were the third person from the blue team to have their dishes judged, and went up against Gia and Jessica. He made a pan-seared oyster cut with a red wine reduction, it was criticized for being too simplistic, and he did not score that round. The blue team lost the challenge 1-3, and they were punished by taking in deliveries of raw pine nuts, prep them for the following service for pesto, and clean up the goo and eggshells from the dining room.

During dinner service, Andrew served a rock shrimp pesto tagliatelle appetizer tableside. At one point, he felt that they were getting stronger and jacked up that night. The blue team won the service, and he was happy that they did not get kicked out again. While being dismissed, he proclaimed that the men were on the fucking way out of the hill.[3]

Episode 4[]

Main article: Episode 1604 - Surf Riding & Turf Fighting

Before the Protein Identification Challenge, Andrew was confident in his palate as he took classes on it. During Johnny and Paulie's turn, he told the two that there was no crab cake. He was paired up with Aaron, they were the second pair from the blue team to compete, and they randomly picked venison and bay scallops. After carefully tasting the dish, they managed to get the correct pairing on their first attempt, with him happy that they nailed it. The blue team won the challenge 9 minutes and 46 seconds to 13 minutes and 41 seconds, and they were rewarded with a trip to San Diego and got to experience surfing at the Wave House. That excited him as he never did that before, and compared it to winning the lottery.

Later that night, Andrew asked Johnny what his new game plan was, and the latter said that he wanted to make the red team cry as they did with Jessica as it got her eliminated. When he asked Kimberly if she felt she would compete longer than Johnny, she declared it her mission.

During dinner service, Andrew was on the appetizer station with Johnny. After the men received their first ticket, he declared that nothing was stopping the blue team after their challenge win. Near their final ticket, he was determined to see them complete service but had to tell Aaron to call out times. After the blue team got kicked out of the kitchen, he was upset that they lost despite busting his ass.

The blue team lost the service and were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, Andrew disagreed with the idea of nominating Aaron, but Paulie reminded him about the raw Wellingtons that got them kicked out. Then, Paulie asked him who his nominee was, and he said Devin as he felt he was slipping through the cracks, which Aaron agreed with.

He was not nominated for elimination.[4]

Episode 5[]

Main article: Episode 1605 - Walking the Plank

Before the Seven Seas Seafood Challenge, Andrew wondered why there was a giant pirate ship in the middle of the restaurant. He went up against Wendy, even though he thought that somebody had enough balls to challenge him, he picked the Pacific Ocean, and their fish was sea bass. After, he confidently claimed that he had it, and even told Ramsay to put his point up already. During the cooking, he was shocked when it was announced for 5 minutes left as he just tossed his salad, as he thought he had more time to cook his fish. After the cooking time, Aaron tried to comfort him. He was the final person from the blue team to have his dish judged by Ramsay and presented his pan-seared sea bass on top of Asian slaw. Despite his concern about the fish being undercooked, it was cooked to perfection, praised for nailing the taste, and he won that round over Wendy. The blue team won the challenge 5-4, and they were rewarded with lunch at Petty Cash with Ramsay and got to go bowling. During the reward, he loved the bowling shirts, pins, and towels provided by Hell’s Kitchen, which he deemed awesome.

During prep, Andrew declared that he was ready to bust ass. During dinner service, he was on the meat station. After receiving their first ticket, he knew that they had to get off to a strong start to succeed, and prayed for Johnny and Paulie to pull it out. On entrées, he knew that they had to continue pushing, and communicated with Johnny and Devin. After Devin and Johnny served improper food, Ramsay urged him to get the blue team back on order. Later, his New York striploin was raw, much to Devin’s annoyance, and when the latter sent up cream spinach that had no salt in it, he got dismayed as his three-year-old could do that. Then, his second attempt was raw, and Ramsay kicked the blue team out of the kitchen.

The blue team lost the service and were asked to nominate two people for elimination. During deliberation, a pissed Andrew yelled that they could not complete service to save their lives, and he and Devin argued over the fact that his steaks were raw. Then, he considered Johnny and Devin for elimination.

Andrew was not nominated for elimination, and after Devin claimed that the hardest part was cooking garnishes for both the fish and meat refires, while he argued that he owned up to mistakes. While going back to the dorms, he told Devin not to make him look bad as he would lose his mind.[5]

Episode 6[]

Main article: Episode 1606 - Let the Catfights Begin

Back at the dorms, Andrew was pissed that Devin was still around as he felt that he sucked at cooking, before accusing him of still being hostile towards him.

During the Ingredient Crossword Challenge, Andrew spelled out bacon, and during the cooking, he called Devin's dish idea a terrible one but decided to let him cook it as he wanted the latter gone. However, despite hoping for an interesting critique, Devin's dish was praised. He was the final person from the blue team to have his dish judged by Ramsay and presented his seared ribeye with a pea and truffle purée. However, Ramsay called it the most meniscal dishes he seen so far, and when he asked him why he did not add okra or yams to the dish, he answered that he felt they were not needed. Then, Ramsay criticized the sear for being insufficient, the dish for being plain, and he scored 2 points.

The blue team won the challenge 17-16, and they were rewarded with a bumper car experience on ice, and eating a steak dinner. During the reward, Andrew disagreed with Devin's idea that they tone down the yelling in the kitchen, said that he was loud due to being from Philadelphia, and told Devin to get the fuck out if he did not like his yelling. Back at the dorms, he suggested that everybody had to take care of their own station, before declaring that if any of them fucked up, they would be nominated. The rest of the blue team agreed with that idea, and he deemed it a turning point for the blue team.

During the Family Night dinner service, Andrew was at a special quesadilla station. He was not seen that night, both teams were named joint losers, and were asked to nominate two each.

He was not nominated for elimination.[6]

Episode 7[]

Main article: Episode 1607 - Don't Tell My Fiancé

Back at the dorms, Andrew and Heather started cuddling together, with him confirming that he and Heather were just friends, but wanted to keep flirting with her despite getting married in a couple of months.

During the Southern Cuisine Challenge, Andrew was paired up against Heather from the red team, and their dish was pork chops. He was the fifth person from the blue team to have his dish judged and presented his buttermilk marinated pork chop with fennel slaw on top. It was praised for having a good crust and for the slaw element, he scored that round over Heather, and while he mockingly asked her if she liked losing, he still shook Heather's hand out of respect. The blue team lost the challenge 2-3, and they were punished by prepping shrimp and grits for the following service which included grinding corn down, cleaning shrimp, and prepping both kitchens. During the punishment, he complained about the fact they had to grind grits by hand and declared that they stopped doing that after the pilgrims came. When Koop struggled to decide on staying or quitting, he wanted to win that night’s service so the former would not go home.

Before service began, Andrew deemed it fucking amazing that JJ Redick would be eating at the blue chef's table, as he remembered the latter playing for Duke University. During dinner service, he was on the fish station. At one point, he felt that he was going to execute the catfish properly, but Ramsay saw that his catfish was soggy to the touch, and called up Wendy to feel it, which caused her to believe that he fried it off too early and let it sit. Then, Ramsay reminded him not to fry the catfish too early as he did mind that, but he managed to get the refire accepted. The blue team won the service.

During elimination, Andrew and Matt were reassigned to the red team, being exchanged for Shaina and Wendy. While being dismissed, he felt that the red team lucked out having himself and Matt as new teammates.[7]

Episode 8[]

Main article: Episode 1608 - Dancing with the Chefs

During the International Ballroom Planning Challenge, Sous Chef Andi suggested to Andrew to start cooking their steaks for a proper rest, but he ignored her as he worked in a steakhouse, and knew what he was doing. He as paired up with Ryan on the beef entrée, they were the final pair from the red team to have their dishes judged and went up against Johnny and Paulie. He made a chili-rubbed New York striploin, it was criticized for having too much blood on the plate, and he did not score that round.

The red team won the challenge 2-1, and they were rewarded with a kayak trip at the Santa Barbara Mountains, and a seafood lunch at The Lark. During the reward, Andrew was wobbling a lot on his kayak due to his weight and was unsure of himself as he never did it before. During lunch, he felt that the red team’s teamwork during the challenge was solid, but his flirting with Heather irritated the red team.

During prep, Ryan gave Andrew directions on how to cook her dish, but she got annoyed by his attitude. Then he told Matt to listen as the women have won more services in the past, and when Ryan was still mad about the attitudes from the men, he got concerned that the bad mood during prep would carry over into service. During the International Ballroom, he was on the garnish station. At one point, he reminded Kimberly that they had to have two chefs on each entrées station, and when the red team went into the blue kitchen to complete the blue team's tickets, he felt that they were cleaning up their mess. The red team won the service by a mile.

While being dismissed, Andrew felt that the red team was more cohesive than the fractured blue team.[8]

Episode 9[]

Main article: Episode 1609 - Spoon Fed

While going back to the dorms, Andrew told Matt that it was not their fight after the latter was pissed Johnny was eliminated.

During the Blind Taste Test, Andrew was not splattered once during Heidi's turn. He was the final person from the red team to compete and went up against Wendy. He got strawberry and fennel correct, sparing Heather from being splattered. When the score was tied at 13, he and Wendy went into sudden death. He failed to guess cabbage and turnip, resulting in Heather getting splattered twice, and the red team lost the challenge.

The red team was punished by participating in delivery day, and prep both kitchens for that night’s service. While Andrew was sad that he got baby food on Heather, he jokingly thought that it looked good on her, before apologizing to the red team for costing them the challenge, and he and Heather joking about licking the baby food off her body. During the punishment, he put the red team’s loss solely on himself as he had a chance to win it, and decided to take the brunt of it as best as he could.

During dinner service, Andrew was on the garnish station. At one point, he felt that the red team was the dream team, and while he originally considered Kimberly as their weakest link, he was impressed by her strong performance on the carbonara. Later, he felt that everything was flowing for them, but when Matt asked him to check on an order, he told the latter that he had two lambs on fire instead of the one originally thought over. Soon after, Ramsay called his movement slow for a man his age. When the blue team got kicked out of the kitchen, he wanted the final ticket to be perfect. The red team won the service.

After Koop's elimination, Ramsay told the red team that he would need a volunteer to move over into the blue team to even up the numbers the next day.[9]

Episode 10[]

Main article: Episode 1610 - Dancing in the Grotto

Back at the dorms, Andrew said that his choice was either between Heidi and Ryan, but while the latter refused to go to the blue team, he told her that she could look fucking good if she led them strongly. Secretly, he knew that Ryan was his biggest competition, and it would be good for his own game if she was gone.

Before the Creative Sliders Challenge, Andrew said goodbye to Ryan as she was reassigned to the blue team. As the chefs were grabbing their ingredients from a ball pit, he remarked that his ten-year-old son would love the bounce house, before tripping over while going on the bounce house. After much searching, he managed to find Greek yogurt, and the red team raced back into the kitchen with only 27 minutes left in the challenge. After one of the judges was revealed to be Sang Yoo, it impressed him as he was a burger master. He oversaw the lamb sliders, he the final person from the red team to have his dish judged, and went up against Ryan. He made a spice-rubbed pork slider with chimichurri, and while it was praised for having the yogurt element, it was criticized for a flat-tasting lamb, and he lost that round to Ryan.

The red team won the challenge after a tie at 3, and they were rewarded with a day at the Playboy mansion, which excited Andrew as it was every little boy’s fantasy. During the reward, he called it fucking amazing to see Playboy bunnies in person, before calling it the best day of his life.

During prep, Andrew revealed that he borrowed Heather's parrying knife as he found that the person who was using it was dull. During dinner service, he was on the meat station. After Matt and Heather were arguing about the former's ego, he had to yell at them to stop. At the back pantry, he tried to calm them down and told them that it was about the guests and not their ego. After completing appetizers, he knew that despite a couple of hiccups, the only thing they could do was move forward. Both teams were named joint losers and were asked to nominate two each. During deliberation, he told Matt to pick his nominees.

He was not nominated for elimination.[10]

Episode 11[]

Main article: Episode 1611 - Aerial Maneuvers

While going back to the dorms, Andrew called elimination fucking crazy, and while he was happy to be in the final eight, he was shocked that Kimberly was still around.

During the Taste It Now Make It Challenge, Andrew was paired up with Heather, and he cooked the dish. During the cooking, he convinced Heather to switch their protein from veal to pork They used pork, apricots, and Swiss chard to recreate Ramsay's dish. While they got the Swiss chard correct, they failed to get the remaining ingredients, and the red team lost the challenge.

The red team was punished by rearranging the dining room for that night’s closed dinner service, make beet flowers, which dismayed Andrew as he did not come into the competition to make beet flowers, and prep both kitchens. During the punishment, he openly complained about being the only male in a carrying punishment, but Marino told him to be quiet as he was outnumbered, and he decided to all the heavy lifting. Later, he was the only one that found making beet flowers to be tedious and called it the worst punishment he has done so far.

During the Charity Night dinner service, Andrew was responsible for the pan-seared scallops course. He decided to have Heidi help him cook the scallops, had Kimberly cook the garnishes, and had Heather help him on plating. When they had around 24 scallops, he decided to start plating while Heidi cooked the rest. The red team won the service.[11]

Episode 12[]

Main article: Episode 1612 - Fusion Confusion

Back at the dorms, Andrew caught Paulie up and awake when he went into the bedroom despite the latter claiming that he went to bed.

During the Fusion Cuisine Challenge, Andrew went up against Paulie, and their countries were Mexican and Indian after he landed on a wild card space. He was the first person from the red team to have his dish judged and presented his spicy grilled lamb chop with a hot curry and grilled corn. While the dish was praised for having a better presentation than Paulie's dish, it was criticized for not being spicy enough, being raw in the center, and neither he nor Paulie scored that round. The red team lost the challenge after a tie at one, and they were punished by taking in a delivery of a side of beef, breaking them down for a hanger steak special the following service, and taking in deliveries of potatoes. After hearing that, he complained that it was another punishment that involved heavy lifting, and believed that it would take forever to complete. During the punishment, Kimberly blamed him for losing the challenge and complained about his loud voice, but he said that Kimberly sucked and that he could not stand her, before telling her to take her sushi truck out with her. When he and Kimberly continued to argue, Heather had to break it up.

During dinner service, Andrew was on the appetizer station. He communicated with his teammates on the first orders, and when a kale salad was sent back for having hair in it, he asked Heather if it was hers. The red team won the service.[12]

Episode 13[]

Main article: Episode 1613 - Black Jacket Lounge

Back at the dorms, Andrew told Paulie that he was glad he was still around, and later that night, he was cuddling with Heather with the latter playing with his bald spot. The next day, he got to spend some time with his mother and girlfriend.

During the first Black Jackets Challenge, Andrew used filet, couscous, Romanesco, beets, and orange for his dish, although he was not happy about getting couscous as he thought it was polenta. He was the fourth person to have his dish judged by Ramsay and presented his pan-seared spiced filet and couscous flavored with beet and orange. They were criticized for the couscous being too soggy as he boiled it but praised for a beautifully cooked steak. He lost the challenge to Heather and Heidi and had to participate in the second challenge.

During the second Black Jackets Challenge, Andrew said that he did not want to go head to head in the final round. He was the third person to have his dish judged by Ramsay, and while he knew that the tiniest details would keep people from receiving black jackets, he felt that his salmon with roasted eggplant was perfect. However, while Ramsay praised the dish for an elegant presentation and having a medium-rare salmon, the eggplant was criticized for tasting bitter, which made him nervous as his dish was bad compared to Kimberly and Ryan’s near-perfect dishes. He lost the challenge to Ryan and Paulie and had to participate in the final challenge with Kimberly.

During the final Black Jackets Challenge, Andrew knew that if he could not beat Kimberly, then he had no shot of getting a black jacket. During the shopping, he said that he wanted a black jacket more than anybody, and commented on how focused and determined he was. During the cooking, he told Kimberly that it was her time to go home, and wanted to a purée for his steak dish, but Kimberly felt that he was getting flustered, and commented that he looked miserable and nervous. After Ramsay tasted his purée, he debated whether he was going to use it, but decided to rework it into another component. While plating, he was seen doing it frantically. He was the first person to have his dish judged by Ramsay, he knew that it came down to him and Kimberly, felt that he was a better chef than her, and presented his pan-seared New York striploin with a wild mushroom and crab bordelaise, roasted Brussel sprouts with brown butter bacon and lemon zest, and potato purée with goat cheese. Ramsay praised the steak for being cooked perfectly, the Brussel sprouts for being the best he ever tasted, and the sauce not being too heavy, even though the purée was criticized for being too gloopy and that he would never blitz that. After the critique, he felt happy as almost all the components were praised. While waiting for the verdict at Ramsay's office, he told Kimberly that he did not want to see either of them go home as they both did a great job.

After the judging, it was revealed that Andrew and Kimberly were tied at 2 each. Ultimately, he lost to Kimberly in the tiebreaker, was eliminated as Ramsay reminded him that he under-delivered on the purée, but he told him that he was going to have a bright future in the industry. During his exit interview, he was shocked by his elimination and felt that he let both himself and his son down.

Ramsay's comment: "Andrew had three chances to save his life in Hell's Kitchen. Like they say, three strikes and you're out." [12]

Episode 16[]

Main article: Episode 1616 - Leaving It on the Line

Andrew was one of the eight chefs to return for the final dinner service. He was Heather's first pick, and the first pick overall. After being chosen, he declared that he would not let her down. He was later followed by Kimberly, Shaina, and Devin, much to his dismay as he wanted Paulie instead. Back at the dorms, he volunteered to take over the most difficult station the following night.

During prep, Andrew and Heather resumed their flirting. During dinner service, he was on the garnish station. At one point, he brought up scallops early after Heather's call for two four-top tables, and Ramsay reminded him that they would go cold on the hot pass due to the wait. Later, he sent up under-seasoned asparagus, and when Heather was brought into the pantry room, he knew that it was not a good sign to be in the room of doom. When Kimberly struggled on the ribeye, that annoyed him as they were supposed to make Heather shine that night. Heather eventually lost the finals to Ryan, and during the celebration, he comforted the former.[13]
